Prof. Laure Gossec is Full Professor (Fist Class) of Rheumatology at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital and Sorbonne Université, Paris, France.
In her half-time clinical position, she sees patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases on an outpatient and inpatient basis, with particular expertise psoriatic arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. In 2024, she was ranked ‘second best rheumatologist in France’ (Le Point ranking).
In her academic role, she teaches and performs research. She is the Founder and Director of the patient-physician relationship Teaching Department at Sorbonne Université’s Faculty of Health, and also teaches rheumatology. Her interactive lectures are highly ranked by students.
Her research work focuses on clinical and epidemiological research, and in particular outcome criteria, registries, quality of life, patient-reported measures, shared decision-making, participatory research, Big Data, and digital health. Prof. Gossec has authored or co-authored close to 550 scientific publications; she leads numerous international studies, and has secured several competitive research funding awards.
Her current leadership roles include elected member of the EULAR Board as President-Elect of EULAR, she is also Associate Editor of the journal Joint Bone Spine. Prof. Gossec previously held the position of Chair of Epidemiology within EULAR and Founding member and President of EMEUNET.
